Hey Y’all. Welcome to My Georgia Kitchen. Grab yourself some sweet iced tea and sit a spell. My name is Scott and I live in Atlanta, Georgia with my loving partner of 7 years. His name is Sheridan, and he is responsible for the photographs. He is also the official taste tester. We are the proud parents of 2 parakeets, 4 fancy goldfish, and 5 cats.
I’m a bit of a classic rock junkie, especially the music of the 1960’s and it’s profound Woodstock generation. Even though Woodstock happened 7 years before I was born, I find comfort in Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison. I also like old school blues; Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, Etta James, and Howlin’ Wolf, to name a few. I am also fond of classic country music; Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams Sr., and a load of the 1980’s bands and artists.
My culinary background is fairly short as I have no formal institute training. I have twenty plus years of restaurant experience. I have worked in almost every type of restaurant from fast food (when I was a kid) to fine dinning and everything in between. I have been a server, a cook, a gofer, a hospitality and food production manager. Hopefully I will be attending Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and be apart of the 2015 graduating class.
I originally started My Georgia Kitchen on another popular blog site in the Spring of 2012. When I started my blog, I wanted to share my style of Southern cooking with the world. I will always be grateful to that site for teaching me what to do, and what not to do. They helped me find my voice among the countless other cooking/recipe blogs.
In August 2014, I decided to leave my comfort zone and move my blog to Word Press in search of a larger audience. With the move, I began to branch out from my Southern roots and explore the more complex techniques of classic cuisine. With the voices of my favorite chefs; Julia Child, Gordon Ramsay, Anne Burrell, and Lidia Bastianich, guiding me, who knows what I will be cooking up next. You will just have to click the follow button to find out.
